  • Letter from Don Organ, President, West End Democratic Club to Lucille Lozoya RE: Withdraws his invitation to have LP speak about nuclear testing because it will be to late to reserve the local high school auditorium by the time LP comes back from Europe. [Letter from Ms. Lozoya to Mr. Organ July 22, 1957] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (O: Correspondence, 1957), #300.19]
  • Letter from Dr. Karl Bechert to LP RE: Expresses Dr. Albert Schweitzer's pleasure with LP that he has taken a stand against atomic testing. Tells story of having given a lecture and been approached by Professor Manfred von Ardenne, a physicist from East Germany, who said his scientific society would agree to publish a declaration against atomic testing but thought it would be good to have scientific societies from the Eastern world meet with scientific societies from the Western world. Asks LP if he thinks this would be a good idea or if it would be better for Us scientists to just meet and make a declaration themselves against misusing scientific work & results. [Letter from LP to Dr. Bechert November 22, 1957] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (B: Correspondence, 1957), #38.3]
