Letter from Linus Pauling to J.T. Randall. December 31, 1952Pauling writes that he is pleased to learn of the meeting on the Nature and Structure of Connective Tissues in March, but is unsure if he will be able to attend. He will be in Europe in April, but attending the meeting would require him to leave two weeks early, and he is not sure if he can leave work for such an extended period of time. Pauling adds that he is excited about the upcoming publication of his research on the structure of the nucleic acids. He feels that the nucleic acids most likely have only one stable structure. Pauling also mentions that he was not pleased with the quality of the x-ray photographs of sodium thymonucleate that he was able to obtain in his lab. Pauling suggests that Randall's photographs are far superior, but that he was still able to go forward with the structure determination.
