Timothy P. White served as acting president in 2003 during the transition between President Paul Risser and President Edward Ray.
Born on July 9, 1949 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Tim White received a bachelor's degree from California State Fresno, a master's degree from California State Hayward, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley. He served at Berkeley for five years as a professor and chair of the Department of Human Dynamics.
White served as the dean of the College of Health and Human Performance at OSU from 1996 to 2001 when he became provost and executive vice president. In 2004, after Ed Ray became president, White left OSU to serve as the president of the University of Idaho and later became Chancellor of the California State University System.
