Dear Daddy,

We were very pleased to receive your letter of the 9th which arrived today.

With respect to the Merc, I enclose the registration certificate with the British Motor Authorities, a receipt from the man from whom I bought the car, a statement as to the mileage the car has done in my hands, and an expired International Certificate for Motor Vehicles. I do not have a Garnet, though I had one it was retained by the Automobile Association when I returned to this country. The car was exported from this country on a Bank of England form. I bought the car in England. I am very pleased that the mechanics of importation will not rest upon you.

As to the Porsche, I have sent the receipted invoice from Messrs. A.P.N., the dealers from whom I bought the car, to you. I shall send the receipts for the money I paid along with a statement about ownership.

I would like it if these various documents were not to be mislaid, and perhaps they could be filed in a convenient file somewhere. I think you can do what you wish with the Porsche. Do you have need for it?

I am pleased you are enjoying the ranch so much, and look forward to seeing it. How close is the closest airstrip? I am rather sorry for Julia's and Thomas' sake that we are staying here. Thomas does not like the rainy weather. I think we shall move into a central heated flat in a block in North London towards the end of November. It is furnished and rather expensive, but I wish things to be as easy as possible for Julia.

She has just rung and sends her love. She is sorry she has not written recently.

It is nice you are in your new room. You will remember you showed it to Linus and me in 1955 before the building was finished. It seemed narrow to me, but the hall is biased towards the south side limiting the width of the southern rooms.
