Dear Mamma,
Papa wrote me two (really) three letters. Thank you for the $100. I don't need it, and I
wear my wool boots (already paid for) and you are a little too good to me. Daddy says I will be
thrown out at Christmas. This is rather unfortunate. I don't know that I want to leave. I am glad
Linda is back at Reed. I am working pretty hard. There is little else to do. Now I am building a
gadget. Too bad. It goes slowly. We need it though. I do not know what to do when I go from
here . It would be too bad to be thrown out. It is hard on John Kendrew, because the college
does not like it and he got me in there.
Don Gilbertson is in London. I suppose I shall see him in a few days. Alison and Jan are
back . They say they had a good time with you.
XXXOOO Much love,
Peter
