  • Letter from "Boris" to LP RE: Boris writes to LP about the horrible conditions in Russia. He explains the five main types of prices/retail stores, the fact that the Russians' character has given way under the five-year plan, and the availability of free medical service for all. Asks that LP show this letter to Tolman and that Tolman shows LP his letter. Boris hopes he will receive a Guggenheim Fellowship for 1933 so that he and his wife can return to the U.S., hopefully Caltech, and not return to Russia. Will send LP his work with Fock on their derivation of the Coulomb interaction. Handwritten note from Rose at the end of letter apologizing for not writing for such a long time. Explains that they put of writing since they live in such horrible conditions. Asks that LP write to her about his newborn and their mutual friends.
