  • Letter from James W. Armsey, Illinois Institute of Technology, to LP. RE: Requests a brief biography, a photograph, and an abstract of his address to use for news releases. [Filed under LP Science: American Chemical Society: Correspondence, 1948-1949: Box #14.004 Folder #4.2]
  • Letter from LP to Dr. A. H. Fiske, Lilly Research Laboratories. RE: Thanks him for his letter. Informs him of his travel plans. [Filed under LP Science: American Chemical Society: Correspondence, 1949-1950: Box #14.005 Folder #5.1]
  • Letter from LP to Dr. Carl V. Moore, Washington University, RE: States that in sickle cell anemia the hemoglobin appears to have three or four extra acidic groups or to have three or four basic groups lacking. Also states that they isoelectric point is about three-tenths of an pH unit different. Adds that the hemoglobin in those with sickle cell anemia are 100% abnormal and in those with just the trait, it's 25% abnormal. [Letter from Moore to LP April 30, 1949] [Filed under LP Correspondence: Box #255.16, file:(M: Correspondence, 1949)]
  • Letter from LP to Prof. A. R. Smith RE: States that ionic radii were proposed in 1927 and are described in his book for the elements in which they apply. States that for some elements covalent radii are more important. [Letter from A. R. Smith to LP May 1, 1949] [Filed under LP Correspondence: (S: Correspondence, 1949), #378.3]
  • Letter from Robert B. Corey to Miss Inga Lucille Faller, Department of Chemistry, Northwestern University RE: Offers a fellowship to Miss Faller. Mentions, however, there is another development she should take into consideration. Since he last wrote, Dr. Kirkwood's plans have progressed so that he is now in a position to offer a post-doctoral fellowship to do theoretical and experimental work on proteins under his direction. Sums it up that he is offering two equivalent positions, one in theoretical and experimental studies of proteins or in x-ray diffraction studies of the structure of amino acids, peptides, and related substances. In case she is awarded a United States Public Health Fellowship, it could be used for work in either field. [Letters from Faller to Corey May 3, 1949, May 11, 1949] [Filed under LP Biographical: Academia: Box 1.017, Folder 17.3]
  • Letter from Secretary to LP, to Dr. R. R. McGregor, Mellon Institute of Industrial Research. RE: Informs him that LP will be in Indianapolis prior to the meeting in Pittsburgh. Informs him that LP has been ill lately, and may require time to rest before his talk. [Filed under LP Science: American Chemical Society: Correspondence, 1949-1950: Box #14.005 Folder #5.1]
