Dear Professor Lamb:
In recommending that Tables XV to XVIII in the manuscript of Giauque and Kemp be omitted, I was actuated to a considerable extent by the belief that the calculations underlying them were not extremely extensive and that the tables contained errors. Now that Professor Giauque has pointed out that this belief was wrong and that it rested on a mistake in the manuscript in connection with Equation 14, I withdraw my earlier recommendation, and recommend instead that the manuscript be accepted for publication, after Professor Giauque has made the corrections which he mentions in his letter. I believe that it would be satisfactory to omit Table III and to replace tables X, XI, and XVI by summaries, as suggested by Professor Giauque.
