Letter from Linus Pauling to Walter A. Schmidt. July 9, 1956Pauling informs Dr. Schmidt of his trip to Italy with Ava Helen. The purpose of his trip was to give a lecture at an event commemorating the 100th anniversary of the death of Amadeo Avogadro. Pauling notes that the ceremony was attended by the President of Italy and many other important officials. He describes his surprise in receiving an award, the Order of the Republic of Italy. Pauling expresses his concern at not having heard from Dr. Schmidt, despite his request to speak to him by telephone, issued over a year ago. View Transcript
