Letter from Linus Pauling to W.A. Noyes, Jr. February 26, 1945Pauling states that Caltech does not require its applicants to provide scores from the Carnegie Graduate Record Exam. However, he notes, the chemistry department is now requesting the scores when available. Pauling explains that the exam may be of increased importance in the future of the Caltech application system, but grade records and recommendations will continue to enjoy the greatest emphasis.
