Title
Danny Burnett Oral History Interview
Description
Burnett begins by talking about his childhood, particularly about the fact that he has a twin brother, who he did a lot of activities with as a kid. He then discuss his gender exploration process, which started at 14 by being exposed to queer narratives online, first identifying as gender fluid then as nonbinary, before beginning to identify as transmasc at 17. Being from a Republican town and family, Burnett’s family was not the most accepting, but they had accepting friends and an older trans man who acted as a model of positive queer masculinity for him. Burnett discusses feeling constrained sometimes by ideals of transmasculinity, and relates still having a pretty fluid expression of gender and still identifying with more feminine traits. He discusses his experience with gender euphoria and dysphoria and how that was strengthened or lessened by his relationships. For his object, he shares one of his poems about gender euphoria, and shares about expressions of queer joy and poetry. He talks about his time at OSU, including his experience with Student Health Services and taking classes.
