history

William P. Wharton Groton, Mass. September 15, 1947 Dr. Albert Einstein Chairman Emergency Committee Atomic Scientists 19 Nassau St., Princeton, N.J. Dear Dr. Einstein: Please excuse my delay in replying to your letter of August 6. I have been away from home on a somewhat extended vacation. I am glad to enclose a similar contribution to that which I made last year for the very important work of your committee. Judging by some recent polls of public opinion you have a difficult task before you in bringing the American people to the realization of the tremendous seriousness of the present situation. I sincerely hope that you will succeed in your efforts. Sincerely yours, Wm P. Wharton
