Scientists knew the fantastic immensity of the power they were unleashing when they set out to split the atom, E = MC^2 and use the chain reaction in an atom bomb; but fear that Germany might achieve it first forced us to race with them and create the atom bomb. We all agree that it was imperative for us to do it at that time, but we fail to realize that if we hadn't idol worshipped up to that moment the situation would never have arisen. But now we have a merciful moment to save ourselves from another chain reaction of human fears of each other. In the words of the Bible: "... Visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the third and upon the fourth generation of them that hate Me, and showing mercy unto the thousandth generation of them that love Me and keep My commandments.“
How shall we proceed? A statement as clear as E = MC^2 must be made to the world — that we are racing to an endless chain reaction of earth matter into earth energy. This must strike into each man's consciousness, into every small moment of every human being's life. Let this instead of the atomic age be the era of the ethical revolution of man — the greatest era since civilization. Let each individual start. A good person absorbs the evils around him, dissolves them, does not react, they end with him, there is no chain reaction — and then directs himself toward creative good. It will be like a growing contagion. It will take from person to person, group to group, nation to nation, and the world will heal. The one rule being the test of all action being the identity of the single individual to humanity as a whole; if it does not answer to the good of all, it is an idol, it is evil, and must be discarded. It will call for the greatest moral effort in each individual. This is the crying need of the world. This our great moment; we can destroy our idols or be destroyed by them. To quote
