HARVARD COLLEGE OBSERVATORY FREMONT PASS STATION CLIMAX, COLORADO

20 June 1946

Dr. Albert Einstein, Chairman Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists Princeton, New Jersey

Dear Dr. Einstein:

I enclose herewith a check for $3.00 as my contribution to your telegraphed appeal for funds in our present crisis. Your appeal was relayed to me by the University ofDenver Faculty Seminar on Atomic Energy.

For about ten or twelve weeks I have been writing a news paper column in the Denver Post ( reaching over 300,000 people ), and a weekly radio broadcast over Station KLZ and Station KVOR in Denver and Colorado Springs, reaching an unknown audience, I am in a position to give fairly wide general publicity to your appeal if you deem it appropriate. What I visualize is writing an addition insert to my regular column for the 30th of June in the Denver Post explaining your appeal and reasons that you consider the appeal urgent. I believe that a very appreciable response might be expected.

I could also publicize the issue over KLZ and KVOR on the 7th of July. In fact I shall probably have to delay the newspaper appeal until the 7th of July, inasmuch as my script for the 30th will have to be submitted Monday.

If it is possible for you to reply to me promptly will you write me airmail, c/o Association Camp, Estes Park, Colorado. I shall be attend-ing a series of conferences until the 29th of June.

Very sincerely yours, Walter Orr Roberts Walter Orr Roberts, Superintendent High Altitude Observatory of Harvard University and University of Colorado, Climax, Colorado
