Montana State College Bozeman Department of History Feb. 8, 1948 Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists, Princeton, N. J. Dear Sirs, In response to Professor Einstein's letter I have collected $38.00 from students and faculty of this college. I wish that the amount I collected were many times larger. There is a growing apathy toward this type of program in these parts, largely because people seem weary of the conflict of national interests. There are other forces at work in producing this creeping paralysis. I shall try to collect funds in the future. Professor Einstein is to be congratulated upon his efforts to secure funds for this most important work. I am happy to have a very small part in this program. Most cordially, Ernest Lauer.
