Charles Malik, The Lebanese Minister (handwritten) Legation of Lebanon Washington January 22, 1948
Dr. Albert Einstein Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists, Inc. Room 28, 90 Nassau Street Princeton, New Jersey
It was only because I was in Europe and have just returned to my office in Washington and found your letter of November 26, 1947 lying on my desk that I am delayed in answering it.
I take great pleasure in enclosing herewith a check for $15.00 towards helping you in your magnificent campaign of enlightening the public on atomic problems.
Please consider this modest contribution not for its material importance but as a mere moral token of my sincere belief in the purposes of your work.
I pray that you and your collaborators be given the strength and opportunity to keep serving mankind in its age-old struggle against its own self-destruction.
Sincerely yours, Charles Malik Minister
