CERTIFICATE OF INCORPORATION of the EMERGENCY COMMITTEE OF ATOMIC SCIENTISTS, INCORPORATED

This is to certify that the undersigned hereby associate themselves into a corporation under and by virtue of the provision of an act of the Legislature of the State of New Jersey entitled Title 15 of the Revised Statutes, and the several supplements thereto and acts amendatory thereof. FIRST: The name of this corporation is EMERGENCY COMMITTEE OF ATOMIC SCIENTISTS, INCORPORATED. SECOND: The purposes for which this corporation is formed are: 1. To advance the use of atomic energy in ways beneficial to mankind; 2. To diffuse knowledge and information about atomic energy and to promote the general understanding of its consequences to society and to the people of the United States of America in order that an informed citizenry my intelligently determine its policy and shape its action to serve its own and mankind's best interests; 3. To make such grants in aid of or donations to or contracts with such individuals, trusts, corporations, associations, societies, institutions or other organizations or authorities as may be necessary or desirable to accomplish the foregoing purposes : 4. To solicit, receive and enlist financial or other aid from individuals, trusts, corporations, associations, societies, institutions or other organizations or authorities desirous of contributing to the purposes for which this corporation is formed; 5. To employ such individuals and to take such other action as may be necessary or desirable in order to accomplish the foregoing purposes.
