Seattle Public Schools West Seattle High School 41st Ave. S.W. and W. Stevens St. Seattle 6, Washington March 28, 1947

H. Reed Fulton, Principal A. Lyle Kaye, Vice-Principal

Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists Room 28, 90 Nassau Street Princeton, New Jersey

Gentlemen:

The check you find enclosed is a pitifully inadequate measure of my faith in the cause you are promoting. A prize son was lost in the last war. There are grandchildren among whom victims are likely to be found if another war is imposed upon mankind. These are specific reminders of the need to find some road to a permanent peace.

Friendships formed with men belonging to each of the group whose interests are supposed to be antagonistic to ours convinces me that unselfish service and zealous effort for the common good can be promoted among any people in the world.

With this letter goes a list of names and addresses which must contain some individuals whose support you may also enlist. If you have, available, extra copies of Mr. Einstein's Only Then Shall We Find Courage, I would appreciate having a set of thirty-five for use in some of our high school classes.

Hopefully yours,

A. Lyle Kaye A.L. Kaye

P.S. The people named in this list are all known to me to be responsible individuals whose positions enable them to influence a great many others in the community whose minds are not made up. ALK
