May 29, 1946
Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientist Princeton, New Jersey
Gentlemen: This will acknowledge your telegram of the 22nd of this month, signed by "Albert Einstein". First I want to apologize for not acknowledging receipt of this wire sooner. I know that this is one of the most important, if not the most important single matter before the people of the world today. Inasmuch as I know neither your organization, not its contemplated activity, I am undecided as to what would be the proper action for me to take at this time. However, the illustrious names mentioned in the telegram, including the signature thereto, justifies my sending you the enclosed contribution as a preliminary one, to help your organization get started. At such time in the future, when the objectives of your committee are known to be of a constructive nature, it will be a pleasure for me to help your movement to the best of my ability. Yours very truly, John Danz {signed} John Danz
