CHARLES ENGELHARD Hudson Terminal Building 30 Church Street New York 7, N.Y. June 1, 1948.

Dr. Albert Einstein, Chairman, Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists, Inc., 118 Nassau Street, Princeton, N.J.

Dear Dr. Einstein:

I received your letter of May 27th, and I am glad to send you herewith enclosed, my check for --- $1,000. --

from the Engelhard Industries.

I would have been glad to send you more, but on account of the high taxes which we have to pay, we must be somewhat careful in our expenses.
However, if I will be able to send you another check before the end of the year, I will be glad to do so.
                  With best wishes, believe me,
                              Yours sincerely,
                               Charles Engelhard
