July 25, 1946

Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists, 90 Nassau Street, Princeton, New Jersey.

Gentlemen:

I mailed copies of Mr. Einstein's telegram to three hundred of my friends with request that they mail contributions directly to you, and enclosed your business reply envelope for that purpose.

The enclosed check for $50.00 from the Weymer Foundation, Inc. was mailed to me. Please mail receipt to 228 North LaSalle Street, Chicago 1, Illinois because the 2820 W. Grand Avenue address shown on the check is obsolete.

I did not put my name on any of your business reply envelopes which I enclosed with my letter of appeal so I suppose you'll have considerable difficulty in crediting me with any results therefrom. However, I feel that the success of your efforts will avoid much greater difficulty for this and future generations, so we'll forget the credit. After all, what value will credit have if we do not avoid an atomic war.

I again wish you success in your efforts.

Sincerely yours, Philip Wain & Company
