Professor Albert Einstein, Princeton, N.J.

Dear Professor Einstein:

If I could send a substantial contribution to you and your Committee, it would give me great satisfaction. Though unable to do this, I desire, at any rate, to enroll myself among those who believe with you that your present task is the most important and urgent one confronting the thinking people of this country. The ignorance and smugness which have opposed efforts to control the use of atomic energy, are to me appalling and terrifying.
  May success crown your endeavors!
               Yours sincerely,
                (Mrs.) E. H. Tyndale.
