Mr. Joseph A. Prachar 4114 So. Grove Avenue

Berwyn, Illinois

March 5, 1948

Prof Albert Einstein Emergency Comm. of Atomic Scientists 90 Nassau St., Rm. 28 Princeton, New Jersey

Dear Prof. Einstein:

I am writing to you to state my case toward World Government. I shall endeavor to do this honestly and sincerely with all things considered. If you have any ideas as to what I could do to be the most effective in the short time that we have left please tell me what I could do amongst the rank and file of our people to instill within thier hearts the need and dire necessity of world federation. I will do anything to help you and every world federalist in our great nation to reach as many people as I possibly can in the very short time that we have left.
Civilization is on the brink of disaster! We are heading toward world chaos and destruction and in the end civilization itself will bring about its destruction. We must utilize every avenue of escape that is available to us at the present time. We must do everything we possibly can to avert this international chaos with which we are faced. We must do our very best and have faith in God if we are to survive. I am not asking God to save me from death. I am not afraid to die. I mean that with all my heart. The international situation is fantastically involved in bringing about the destruction of mankind. It is almost humanly impossible to save what is left of our present civilization. But I am now willing (and always will be willing until the day I die) to fight for world federation. I have pledged my life to this cause - by death if it is necessary. I am willing to sacrifice my life for achieving our ultimate goal. I will do anything you ask me to do with all the initiative and understanding that I posses to bring about world federation just to save our present civilization. My life and physical resources are at your disposal. I am ready to die, if it is necessarytto bring about world federation.
I know that you are an elderly man and can not move about as well as I can. So if you have any suggestions please send them to me. If need be I shall see the President of our country. I will stand before both houses and plead with them to bring about world federation. Jack Whitehouse will do the same along with many others. Can you suggest anything that will bring out our effectiveness more readily. Time is so short Prof. Einstein. I shall be patient and await your reply to my letter. My time, my life, and my resources are at your command. God be with you and the others.
   Very sincerely yours,
   Joseph A. Prachar, Chairman
   Berwyn Chapter World Republic.
