The Vice Chairman. The Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists Princeton, New Jersey

Dear Mr. Urey:

I enclose a check for $10.oo and am looking forward to receive the Bulletin referred to in your letter of June 25th.
Some time ago I took the liberty of writing to our local paper regarding the effect on the weather caused by the atomic bomb explosions. It was my theory that the Bikini bomb and similar explosions disrupted the balance of the earths atmosphere, hence the exceptional weather in Europe.
Further explosions on a large scale, which a future war may bring about, may destroy all life on this minute planet. An article on this subject published in a Bulletin may act as a timely warning, especially if the Emergency Committee believe there might be some possibility in this theory. It seems to me that in some future conflict, neither side can - possibly win as the outcome would be suicidal.
       Yours truly
   Arthur F. Musgrave
