From all of us on the Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists , I send you most sincere thanks for your quick and generous response to our appeal. We are glad to know that we have your interest and cooperation in our efforts at this fateful moment. My colleagues and I have chosen the National Committee on Atomic Information, a clearing house for 60 national church, business, labor, civic,farm and women's organizations with 40,000,000 members, as the medium for carrying through our current program. We believe that a sound public policy must be built on sound public understanding of this world problem. From this time on, we will work with all our means to ensure complete public understanding of the scientific facts of atomic energy and their implications for society. In the near future , I shall send you a full statement of our program, now in preparation. I hope for your friendly collaboration and advice for putting it into effect.
