Dr. Albert Einstein Princeton, New Jersey

Dear Doctor Einstein:

When your letter came yesterday asking for some support of the Emergency Committee on Atomic Sciences, I mailed my check before reading your printed interview. After reading this, it is apparent that my contribution was too small and it is a pleasure to enclose an additional check for ten dollars.

May I suggest that the Educational Program of the Committee include some attempt to teach the basic principles of scientific thinking to the general public. The educational system of this country unfortunately trains only an extremely small number of students in the difficult technique of drawing correct conclusions from known facts. There might be great value in a simple statement of the principles of scientific thinking, especially obtained from you personally, with your reputation for being able to draw accurate conclusions from known facts.

Best wishes for the success of the committee's work, I am Sincerely yours, [Signed] Clarence F. Graham, M.D. Principal Diagnostic Pathologist, N.Y. State Tuberculosis Hospitals
