Dear Miss Dukas:
Though 14 years have gone by, I hope you will remember me from the good, old times at Le Coq, Belgium, in the summer of 1933, when we lived together with the Fraustaedters in that little hotel, as well from our later and close friendship with Ruschins in Milan.
Well, here I am as news editor of the only anglo-Jewish newspaper in the state of Wisconsin.
My colleague, last week, was so impressed with the appeal issued by the Emergency Committee that he used it in his weekly column "I May be Wrong". I am herewith enclosing the editorial page where you will find that article.
I am sure the professor - who probably will not recall seeing me so many years ago at Le Coq - will be interested in the publicity given his worthwhile appeal in Wisconsin. As a small contribution my colleague and I are enclosing also checks which you will be kind enough to forward to the committee.
If you could manage to have me sent an answer with the professor's signature, I will feel very much honored, indeed. But please don't press this issue.
Though I know about your well-being only from my steady correspondence with Berta, I hope you feel at home in Princeton and America, although I am afraid that you will not have time for private thinking in all that going and coming you always were involved in.
As far as my wife and I are concerned, we cannot complain. Now living in Milwaukee for almost 9 years, I am satisfied with my newspaper job which I hold for the last 5 years and my wife is happy with her own workroom making draperies, slip-covers etc.
If you have occasionally a minute's time, I certainly would appreciate hearing from you.
