2. I am going to say it on this poor scratch paper, for I long ago exhausted my fine paper in long & urgent letters, mainly to scientists, to urge them to stop this destruction. One of them went to Karl Compton of Harvard, another to a scientists recently taken over by Princeton from California University. To Dr. Compton I just wrote by postal (which I mostly use now) to this effect. "Dear sir, The guns are booming outside in military practice. How long are men going to be a pest & a nuisance to satisfy their egotism? I write this as a woman of the sex which has accidentally intruded into a man's world, and which at present serves as a good target for atom bombs.
