William P. Wharton Groton, Mass.

February 9, 1948

Dr. Albert Einstein, Chairman Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists Princeton, N.J.

Dear Dr. Einstein:

Thank you for you letter of February 5. This letter is to say that I have read with great interest your reply to the Russian scientists in the current number of you magazine, and want to congratulate you heartily on it. It seems to me that you have shown the utmost tolerance and goodwill, while at the same time answering very effectively their rather unfounded accusations. May your fine efforts in behalf of peace be crowned with success.
                                Sincerely yours,
                                   Wm. P. Wharton.
