Dear Professor Einstein:
Nobody in his right mind wants another war. According to the opinion polls, most Americans believe that the Soviet Union is the main stumbling block to peace. People are saying, "If I only had a couple of minutes alone with Stalin, I'd tell him plenty!"
The editors of '48 are asking a group of respected Americans, representing various political beliefs, (including Herbert Hoover, Bernard Baruch, Bill Mauldin, Robert R. Young, Robert M. Hutchins, Walter Reuther, Henry L. Stimson) to write down on one page what they would say to Stalin if they had the opportunity.
