Eva Blackwell Oral History Interview (1 of 2)

Dublin Core

Title

Eva Blackwell Oral History Interview (1 of 2)

Description

Eva Blackwell was a familiar face to many Oregon State University students as she was in charge of registering and their academic standing while working at the institution. An active community member in both the greater community and the University, Blackwell belonged to several business and academic minded associations. Her work at Oregon State largely was concentrated in the Registrar office until she retired in 1965. Blackwell’s first interview begins with recounting her immediate family. Much of the exchange between Jennifer Lee and Blackwell is spent recalling local gatherings, work that needed to be tended to on the various dairy farms, and Blackwell’s education.

Blackwell attended OSU and when asked which teachers she liked best, John (Jackie) Horner came to mind. Blackwell recalls that Horner did not tolerate tardiness and would make remarks to those who were. Otherwise, Blackwell remembers Horner as a great educator. Other points of interest in the interview include Blackwell’s take on campus life and then later what life was like after graduation.
