Jewish Voices
In 1991 and 1992, working under the sponsorship of the Horner Museum and the Beit Am Mid-Willamette Jewish Community, volunteer Judith Berlowitz conducted oral history interviews with seven women who had maintained long ties and been actively involved in the Corvallis Jewish community. These interviews, as transcribed in 2017 by historian Maia Fischler, are presented here. Topically the interviews focus primarily on memories of Jewish community life in Corvallis as well as the formation and evolution of the Hadassah and Beit Am Jewish community organizations.
The Horner Museum actively collected oral history interviews from 1975 to 1992 and focused in particular on multicultural communities of Oregon, the history of Oregon State University, and various aspects of the state’s natural resources economy.
