Pauling records information about his travels and meetings in this diary. Much of it is devoted to detailing his scientific war work as well as updates on World War II itself. As part of this, Pauling notes his and colleagues' ideas on developing weaponry for the military. He also documents events in the war including the sinking of a submarine which was carrying scientific supplies.
