Dear Dorothy:

Thanks very much for your letter, with information about David Davies and other matters.

Helen and I hope to visit Oxford for a short while. We are staying in London for a while after the Royal Society conference, and plan to stay in Cambridge, with the Rothschilds, from May 14 to May 21. I had thought that on May 21 we would transfer to Oxford for a visit, but because of some uncertainty about our plans, I have not yet made any reservation at a hotel. We should be very pleased to accept your invitation to visit you. If it fits with your plans, we should like to come to you on Wednesday, May 21 – probably we shall take the slow train over from Cambridge. We would make only a short visit.

As to my giving a talk on proteins, I have written Professor Peters that he should not schedule it definitely because of an uncertainty that has arisen. I see no reason, however, why the announcement could not be made after our arrival in London. I should like very much to talk with you about protein structure. I think that our work is moving along well, although not rapidly as I should like. There are many details that I should like to have your advice about.

With beat regards, I am

Sincerely yours,

Linus Pauling:W
