history

have in my small, humble way sought the way of peace among all men, and found myself unable to participate in the slaughter of my fellow men - in so far as any of us can avoid doing so in days of totalitarian war. I devoutly hope and pray for world-wide peace. It is a joy to see scientists taking their place at last as morally responsible for the applications and outcomes of the work they do - I am aware that your human sympathies have long been strong and I am happy that you head such a movement. I still hope for the day when scientists will speak by the action of refusing all service to military departments. Sincerely Margaret McCulloch
