Abstract

The Alfie Nelson Laboratory Notebook was used by Nelson in her Household Chemistry course at Oregon Agricultural College in 1921-1922.

Scope and Content Notes

Laboratory notebook used for chemistry laboratory exercies during 1921-1922. It includes procedures, sketches of apparatus, equations, results, and evaluations by instructor. Of especial note are fabric swatches from a textile dyeing exercise. These laboratory exercises were written as part of Household Chemistry courses Ch 111, 112, 113.

Biographical / Historical Notes

Alumna Alfie Nelson graduated from Oregon Agricultural College in 1924 with a B.S. in Home Economics. Originally from Portland, she attended OAC for 4 years from 1920-21 through 1923-24. She returned to Portland after graduation and later became known by the name of Alfie Nelson Maltby.
