Abstract

The Lincoln County, Oregon, Chronic Geologic Hazard Maps consist of superseded maps depicting geologic hazards that do not stem from one event and constantly affect the coast, such as landslides and shoreline erosion. The collection includes a report and database of erosion rates.

The floppy disk described in this series require migration to a digital format and is not immediately available for patron use. Please see SCARC's "Accessing Audio-Visual Content" policy for more information.

Scope and Content Notes

The Lincoln County, Oregon, Chronic Geologic Hazard Maps consist of detailed maps, at a scale of 1:4,800, depicting geologic hazards that constantly affect the coast, such as landslides and shoreline erosion. The maps were prepared and published by the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries. The collection also includes a report explaining the maps and an accompanying erosion rate database. The database is available in electronic form on a 3.5-inch floppy disk. The system requirements for the computer disk are "IBM-PC compatible computer; Lotus 1-2-3; dBase III". The maps were prepared by George R. Priest, with cartography by Mark Neuhaus; the report was authored by George R. Priest, Ingmar Saul, and Julie Diebenow.

These maps and accompanying report were superseded in 2004 by the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries Open-File Report O-2004-09, Evaluation of Coastal Erosion Hazard Zones along Dune and Bluff Backed Shorelines in Lincoln County Oregon: Cascade Head to Seal Rock, a technical report to Lincoln County.
