Abstract

The Human Resources Videotapes consist of "Making a Difference," a production to give new staff an overview of Oregon State University as an employer that includes footage of OSU staff and administrators. The tape has been digitized and is available online.

Scope and Content Notes

The Human Resources Videotapes consist of Making a Difference, produced in August 1992 by Human Resources. Designed to give new staff an overview of Oregon State University as an employer, this production was used from November 1992 through 1995 in the quarterly new employee orientation program. It depicts the OSU mission and how faculty and staff work together to accomplish these common goals. The production includes footage of of the OSU campus in Corvallis and other sites throughout the state; students; and many staff members doing their work. Several staff members and students are interviewed in the production. OSU administrators included in the production are Roy Arnold, John Byrne, Ed Coate, Nancy Howard, George Keller, Phyllis Lee, Jacque Rudolph, Lynn Spruill, and Jo Anne Trow. The outtakes include various bloopers by Roy Arnold, John Byrne, Ed Coate and and other staff and administrators recorded during the videotaping for the production.

The collection consists of two VHS videotapes, the final production (25 minutes) and a tape of outtakes (5 minutes), and a script.  The final production has been digitized and is available online.

Biographical / Historical Notes

Lois deGeus, Staff Benefits Manager at the time of the production, developed the concept and script; she and Bryan Curb, a senior in the Broadcast Media program, did the videotaping. Curb produced the final tape. The Athletic Department donated use of their production equipment and facilities.
