Abstract

The Nutrition Research Institute Records consist of annual reports, brochures, constitutions and bylaws, photographs, correspondence, flyers, grant proposals, meeting minutes, newsletters, newspaper clippings, reports, and a publications list, all of which document the activities of the NRI at OSU.

Scope and Content Notes

The collection includes grant proposals for foundation funding, as well as NRI awards recognitions, seminars and symposia sponsored by NRI, and the development of NRI. Roughly half of these records are Institute membership files organized alphabetically and containing article reprints, curriculum vitae, certificates and correspondence.

The records mostly document administrative matters such as grant funding, departmental cost sharing, an internal university review of the NRI, and the development of the Gary Costley Award. The photographs, numbering roughly 50 images in all, primarily depict various NRI members - including Clara Storvick, Margy Woodburn, James Oldfield, Paul Weswig, O.H. Muth, George Arscott - that were used in NRI newsletters. Other images show researchers in a lab - Karen Robinson and Paul Porter - and an exhibit devoted to the work of NRI that was mounted in the lobby of the Kerr Administration building.

Biographical / Historical Notes

The Nutrition Research Institute was established in 1965.
