Abstract

The Oregon Stater Photograph Collection contains images taken by OSU Alumni Association staff, Oregon Stater editor George Edmonston, Gwil Evans and other Oregon Stater staff members for use in the almuni magazine. These photos depict various events including class reunions, alumni award recognition ceremonies, homecoming and alumni participating in various activties on and around the Oregon State campus. Also included are images of campus landmarks and of OSU faculty.

Scope and Content Notes

Accession 2003:007 consists of images of the construction of the OSU Alumni Center that were taken in June of 1996. The images were shot during the second week of construction.

Accession 2005:037 is made up of photographic images taken by Gwil Evans for the Oregon Stater and Scope magazines. These images depict students, faculty, and alumni engaged in various activities, such as: football games, sculpture classes, a napalm manufacture protest, seed technology research, International Story Hour on the steps of the Memorial Union, a student teaching internship, homecoming reception, and OSU Band practice. Among those featured in these photographs are Portland minister Vern Weiss, sculptor Hank Tyler, Harold Pritchett, and Job Corps employee Bob Lewis.

Accession 2005:098 contains photographs taken for use in the Oregon Stater magazine that depict alumni gatherings, various faculty and staff members, homecoming events, lectures by outside visitors, building dedications, athletic contests, Alumni Association Board meetings, award ceremonies, and general views of campus.

Accession 2006:018 is made up of photographic images taken by editor George Edmonston and other staff for use in the Oregon Stater alumni magazine. These images depict grave markers of deceased alumni and faculty at the Crystal Lake Cemetery in Corvallis, relatives of alumnus and University Registrar E. B. Lemon, OSU Band Day, and fall colors on campus.

Accession 2009:034 consists of images taken by OSU Alumni Association staff for use in the Oregon Stater alumni magazine. The photographs document various events organized by the OSU Alumni Association including class reunions, alumni award recognition ceremonies, regional picnic gatherings and association board meetings. Other campus activities depicted in these images include the construction of the CH2M-Hill Alumni Center, OSU Hawaii Club Luau Night, a student demonstration/boycott of OSU, the dedication of the Stevens Natatorium, the launch of the research vessel Wecoma, athletic contests, commencement ceremonies, and Homecoming Weekend activities. Alumni and faculty documented in these images include: Paul Risser, Bill Tomsheck, Crawford Henderson "Scram" Graham, Warren Washington, Bob Reichart, and Pierre Bowman.
