A note attached to this collection indicates that at least some of its photos were saved by Ethel Allworth at the time of the dissolution of the "Ressler estate." The "Ressler estate" may refer to the estate of Edwin D. Ressler, who was Dean of the OAC School of Vocational Education from 1918-1927.
The collection is comprised of ten cartes de visites, nine cabinet cards, eighteen prints of various types and one hand-colored tintype. Several of the studio images included in the collection bear the marks of professional photographers based in Glasgow, Paris and Toronto. While most of the images are studio portraits, the collection does include a handful of candid photos and landscape images. A small number of images are annotated and support dating of the collection to the late 1880s.
Statement on Access: Collection is open for research.
