Abstract

The Western Oregon Petroleum Exploration Well Records consist of materials related to well research that were generated as a result of petroleum exploration ventures in the Willamette Valley.

Scope and Content Notes

This collection includes research collected for the purpose of identifying geological formations in and around wells. The records include: electric and density logs, well histories, geologic maps, synthetic seismograms, and lithology (mud) logs.

A copy of the publication produced from this research is in the first file in box 1.

Biographical / Historical Notes

These records were collected by Robert Yeats as a part of a research project funded by the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program of the U.S. Geological Survey. The findings from this research produced the U.S. Geological Survey Professional Paper "Tectonics of the Willamette Valley, Oregon." Also resulting from this research were MS theses for the co-authors of the paper: P. A. Crenna, C. Goldfinger, E. P. Graven, T. A. Popowski and K.S. Werner.
