Scope and Content Notes

Beaver’s Digest is a magazine published at Oregon State University “by students for students” three times per year.  Beaver’s Digest includes numerous photographs and addresses topics pertaining to student life, arts and culture on campus, health and fitness, and, to a lesser degree, intercollegiate athletics.  Some issues are focused on a specific topic, such as student homelessness and food insecurity, historical perspectives on Oregon State (during the year of OSU’s 150th anniversary), and intersectional identities.  Several issues are organized in sections titled: Create; Experience; Balance, and #GoBeavs.

The magazine is distributed for free on the Oregon State University campus and in the Corvallis community and has no (or minimal) advertising; 4000 copies are published of each issue.

The first issue of Beaver’s Digest was published in the fall of 2014 following the end of publication of the Beaver yearbook with the 2014 volume.  The intent of Beaver's Digest was to provide a more economically sustainable platform than the yearbook to showcase student writers, photographers, graphic designers, and publishers.  Three issues of Beaver's Digest were published in the first 2 years.  In 2016-2017 only two issues were published; however 4 issues were published in 2017-2018 and 3 issues in 2018-2019.  As of summer 2019, a total of 15 issues have been published.

This collection consists of both paper copies and born-digital versions which are available online.
