The Employment Records document the employment of faculty and staff by Oregon State University and its predecessor institutions. The records are comprised of microfiche film jackets with personnel documents for individual employees. The collection includes documents from the early 1910s until 1989, when a different system for management of the University's personnel files was implemented. These records only include documents for graduate students who were employed as graduate teaching assistants or graduate research assistants. No other student employees are represented in these records.
Various document types are part of the microfiche jackets, including applications, resumes, and curriculum vitae; notices of appointment; personnel action forms; leave reports; biographical forms; correspondence; clippings, including some obituaries; and sabbatical leave applications and reports.
Creation of the microfilm jacktets was a joint venture of the University Archives and the administrative units responsible for personnel management. Original personnel documents were microfilmed by the University Archives in batches that included multiple employees. The microfilm of documents for an individual were cut apart from others and stuffed into the microfiche jacket for that individual. Diazo duplicates of the jackets were made periodically for offices that needed access to the employment records, such as Academic Affairs and the Office of Human Resources.
