Scope and Content Notes

The Oregon State University Retirement Association (OSURA) Records consist of materials generated by OSURA that document the administration of the association and activities organized for its membership.

The management of OSURA is reflected in meeting minutes and a membership list. Documentation of events organized by OSURA is illustrated through newspaper clippings, newsletters, and an announcement publicizing a workshop on "Retirement and Change: the Emotional Aspects." This collection also contains a report generated by the OSURA: "Retirement Demographics: Report on Eligible Retirees, 2001-2010, and the Potential Impact."

Biographical / Historical Notes

Established in 2001, the Oregon State University Retirement Association (OSURA) seeks to promote the engagement of retired OSU faculty and staff with the greater OSU and Corvallis community. In the effort to "bring retirees back to campus," the OSURA organizes a range of programming such as workshops, tours, and lectures. Another aspect of OSURA's mission is to help connect OSU retirees with volunteer opportunities with campus units. The OSURA also administers a scholarship program designed to support undergraduate students at OSU studying for a career in fields that promote "healthy aging".

Membership in OSURA is open to all retired OSU faculty and staff. Current membership (as of July 2020) stands at 242. The administrative home for OSURA, where it receives budget and staff support, is the Office of University Advancement.
