The Paul W. Oman Papers consist of article reprints, correspondence, newsletters, publications, and research reference files related to Oman's entomology research.

Born in Kansas in 1908, Paul Oman received a Ph.D. from George Washington University in 1941. Specializing in the study of insects as vectors of plant diseases, Oman worked for the U.S.D.A. Entomology Research Division before coming to OSU in 1967 to work as a Professor for the Entomology Department. In 1973 Oman was appointed Chairman of the Department and, two years later, he became Professor Emeritus.

Related Materials: These records were part of a larger accession of materials transferred to the Oregon State University Archives from the OSU Arthropod Museum. In addition to being placed into the record group for the Entomology Department Records (RG 027), the records from this accession have been separated and placed into manuscript collections for Entomology faculty including the Paul W.
