This collection consists of materials documenting the student experiences and careers of father/son alumni Harold William Johnson and Charles Harold "Woody" Johnson. Harold Johnson graduated from OAC in 1923 and studied Industrial Arts. His son Charles completed two degrees from OSC in Engineering (1957) and Business (1958).

Scope and Content Notes

Items reflecting the Johnsons' campus years include a 1923 commencement program, two orange-and-black-rooter lids, and a patch denoting Charles' involvement on the varsity crew team. The collection's flyer and certificate pertain to the Johnsons' careers as a school administrator (Harold) and an engineer (Charles).

Numbering five prints in total, the collection's photographs are portrait shots depicting both Harold and Charles, as well as Anita Johnson (Harold's wife) and Harold's college friends Frida, Martin, and Anna.

Biographical / Historical Notes

Harold William Johnson graduated from OAC in 1923 with a degree in Industrial Arts from the School of Engineering. He went on to work for the Emeryville, California, School District from 1925 until 1964, serving variously as a teacher, principal, and eventually as superintendent of the district. Harold and his wife Anita raised two children, Charles and Barbara. Harold Johnson died in 1984.

Born in 1932, Charles Harold Johnson earned undergraduate degrees in engineering and business from Oregon State in 1957 and 1958, respectively. He went on to settle in California and worked as an engineer. He passed on in 2007.
