J. Granville Jensen Papers, 1925-1991

The collection includes a guestbook, awards/certificates, correspondence, conference papers, brochures, publications, speeches, biographical materials, and graduate school research papers. Included among the research subjects covered in these papers are: the Ejido agricultural system in Mexico, mineral development in the U.S., and the extraction of natural resources in Oregon. In addition to a copy of the letter of invitation of the retirement reception sent by the department, there are letters from former students and colleagues in the profession as well as Oregon Governor Bob Straub.

The photographs in this collection depict various cities, geological landscapes, cultural monuments, and settlements throughout the world, the photos primarily focus upon North and South America but also includes imagery of Japan and Europe. There are also images of wall maps, charts, and other instructional aides for the teaching of geography. The collection also includes a photograph of Jensen, O. H. Heitzelman, and Richard Highsmith at a retirement dinner held for Jensen in December of 1977.

Also included in the collection are Jensen's doctoral hood and several wall plaques and certificates awarded to Jensen by Western Washington University and the Association of Pacific Coast Geographers. Jensen's master's thesis ("Recent Changes in the Commercial Banana Industry of the Americas," 1942), and doctoral thesis ("Settlement Pattern of the Providence Region As an Adjustment to Its Geography") are included, as is a history of the OSU Geography Department written by Jensen in 1981.
