Scope and Content Notes

This collection consists of images of events sponsored by the Oregon Productivity Center as well as a ceremony involving the presentation of the Governor's Award to the Center. The events depicted in these photos include a productivity conference in Portland and a tour of the Oregon Coast with a group of Egyptian OSU students.

The materials are all color and black & white prints.

An addition to the Oregon Productivity Center Photograph Collection (Accession 2008:069) is made up of photographic slides generated by the Oregon Productivity Center for use in presentations on productivity measurement tools developed by the center such as Objectives by the Matrix and PROD-5. Numbering about 600 images in total, these slides also depict meetings, audits, and training workshops facilitated by the center for various firms and organizations. Lists numbering particular slides and their captions/titles were also found in this transfer.

Images from this collection have been digitized and are available in Oregon Digital.

Biographical / Historical Notes

Established in 1980 with grant funds from the federal government's Economic Development Administration (EDA), the Oregon Productivity Center promoted and highlighted the issue of productivity and efficiency among small and medium-size Oregon businesses. In this capacity, the Center conducted seminars on management, published a newsletter on productivity, and developed a management technique designed to measure business efficiency called Productivity By the Objectives Matrix. In 1988, after failure to secure the renewal of EDA funding, the Center disbanded.
