The Kenneth W. Hedberg Papers consist of two sets of correspondence between Linus Pauling and representatives of Oregon State University, including Ken Hedberg, President James Jensen, President Robert MacVicar and President John Byrne.
The first group of letters document the repair of Pauling's relationship with his alma mater, after two decades of poor relations. The correspondence also documents the University's efforts at that time to secure custody of the Pauling Papers.
The second group of letters detail Pauling's communications with President Byrne in which Pauling's history of rocky relations with OSU are discussed as are the negotiations that ultimately led to Pauling's donation of his papers to OSU in 1986.
